San Clemente Graduation Photos at Calafia State Beach | Griffin, Class of 2025
Valedictorian, soccer star, and all-around standout—Griffin’s senior session was a true celebration of his San Clemente roots and bright future.
It was such an honor to photograph Griffin, a proud member of the San Clemente High School Class of 2025. Born and raised in San Clemente, it felt only fitting to celebrate his graduation with a photo session at one of the town’s most iconic locations—Calafia State Beach. With golden cliffs, classic Southern California light, and the Pacific sparkling in the background, it set the perfect stage for this milestone moment.
Griffin is not only graduating at the top of his class—he earned the title of valedictorian! But he’s also a soccer star who’s continuing both his academic and athletic journey at Cal State Fullerton. His drive, leadership, and heart shine just as brightly off the field as they do on it.
We timed his session just before golden hour, when the light softens and the beach empties out a bit—always my favorite time for beach portraits. Since most schools don’t distribute caps and gowns until right before graduation, Griffin borrowed one from my collection that I keep on hand for senior clients. I’ve invested in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors so grads can get those timeless, ceremonial photos even if they haven’t received their own yet.
One of my favorite moments? When Griffin climbed up onto a lifeguard tower in full cap and gown. It doesn’t get more California than that! That image feels like such a perfect representation of what it means to grow up, and graduate, by the coast.
And I have to say, Griffin was an absolute joy to photograph. Sometimes, senior guys can be a little hesitant about photos, but Griffin had the best attitude. He was relaxed, patient, and totally up for anything I asked him to do. From standing barefoot in the surf to striking serious poses on the bluffs, he made the whole experience effortless and fun.
