2021 Session Superlatives for Chaotic Perfection Photography!

I'm so excited to introduce my first annual Session Superlatives! These are supposed to be a lighthearted and fun way for me to recap the year and give out some fictitious (but totally still brag worthy) awards. Scroll down to see if your session is featured here as one of the winners!
Family with the Most Kids.....
I love big families because normally they come with BIG personalities and the Irvine Family did not disappoint..... Big families are loud, normally game for anything, and mom and dad have learned to go with the flow. And they would have to with 7 KIDS!
Best Behaved Dog at a Session....
This is really hard because I love all your dogs and I am always excited to meet your furry family members. And I'll admit some bias in this category because I've been in love with Graham since I met him when he was just a puppy. And my puppy, Baxter, is Graham's "little brother". But Graham's mellow, laid back personality and training make him the easiest pupper to include in a session!
The Most Sessions in One Year...... THREE!
When I was looking back at images and sessions from 2021, I noticed that a lot of my clients did multiple sessions this year.... which is amazing because I genuinely love the time that we spend together. But the Emanuelson Family did THREE sessions this year. We started the year off with a session at the Mission in San Juan Capistrano. And then they followed it up with a Spring VW Bus session, and then a Christmas VW Bus session! They are the sweetest family, and I can't wait to see them in 2022!
Favorite Photo with Mom....
I feel like I'd be inclined to pick a sweet photo of momma cuddling her baby or toddler but the genuine laughter and smiles on these faces get me every time. I think we forget that we all need our moms, no matter how old we are.
Most Epic Sky at a Session
Sometimes, during a session, we get lucky with an assist by Mother Nature in the form of a beautiful sky.... and the sky on the day the Kane Family had their session in Laguna Beach was pretty epic! I mean, look at those clouds and that sun light behind the cliff. Amazeballs.
Favorite Photo with a Dad...
Let's face it, Dads are the "play guys" in the family. They are the ones who throw kids over their shoulder, hold upside down, best ticklers, the one that brings the funnies. Plus, I love then dads can just "let go" at a session and have a good time, because it normally means everyone else is having a good time.... It's perfectly acceptable (and even encouraged) to throw a child over your shoulder at a session, or make ridiculous faces.
Sweetest Siblings....
This was tough because I have so many images of siblings, capturing their unique bond and connection but this image from my session with the Thuerbach family, gives me all the feels.... look at those sweet smiles. I am sure they NEVER, EVER fight at home (insert sarcastic, joking tone of voice here). Side note: this is the 5th year I've captured this family!
Best Session at a New Location....
Pretty sure this would be a top contender for my favorite family session of 2021. Sometimes the simplest idea yields the best results.... the simple idea was to take what the family loves, skateboards, and do a session around it. And what better place to capture skateboarders than in an urban "playground" full of alleys and graffiti art. Further proving that if you and your family are comfortable at your session, the result will be amazing images capturing your true personalities!
Favorite Baby Booty.....
I love my baby birthday cake smashes at the beach, because this image is always a "must". A nekkid baby booty on a surfboard, and Hudson nailed it. Complete with the backwards hat. Who could resist this cutie?? Definitely not me.
