I was so excited to do a family session with one of my friends from high school.... I love seeing old friends and getting to see what their lives are like now with their spouses and kiddos, and play a little bit of catch up. I was thrilled when Melissa and her family booked a session and I couldn't wait to get them in front of my camera, because hello...... they are an unbelievably gorgeous family. The last time I saw them was, when her youngest was born and I did a "fresh 48" hospital session, and now he's TWO! I can't believe how time flies!

I love the beach for so many reasons.... obviously, it is beautiful and we are so blessed to live in such a picturesque location. But one reason I love it for family sessions, is because the beach gives us so much freedom to run and play, to be silly, to get wet. Especially with young kiddos that might get a little "squirrely", if you know what I mean. There are so many games we can play and things we can do that result in those fun, "unposed" images.

I know it's hard for parents to "let go" and relax at a photo session because you want things to go smoothly and to go well.... and for your kids to behave. But if you are stressed and tense, it's going to show in the images. Awesomeness (yes, it's a word) happens when parents are able to "let it go" and just go with the flow of the session, and have a good time. These are just some of the images, my favorites, that we captured during our short, weekday mini session.
