Iconic Southern California Beach Culture... the VW Bus.
It's no secret that I love the beach. Whether it is time spent with my own family or the families I am capturing in front of camera. There is honestly no place I'd rather be. Part of our iconic Southern California, Orange County surfer, beach culture is the most epic surf van. The VW Bus.
When I graduated from high school, my parents actually bought me a 1971 bay window VW Bus. It was purple on the bottom and green on the top with grey primer spots scattered around. The hope was that we'd fix it up and restore it and I would be able to drive it to college and use it as a place to hang out between classes. Unfortunately that didn't materialize for a variety of reasons. Mainly because I couldn't drive it. I have really weak shoulders from sports injuries, and couldn't steer the large, non-power steering wheel, and shift gears at the same time.
I love being able to bring some of this quintessential beach culture to my Orange County family photo sessions! I've developed really good relationships with local VW Bus owners who love being a part of my clients' memories. Casual and laid back. No shoes. Kids love climbing around in the front seat and in the open back. These sessions are also perfect for the graduating high school senior that loves to surf.
