Hawaiian Holiday Mini Sessions at Doheny State Beach: A Fun Twist on Christmas Cheer

As the holiday season approaches, it's the perfect time to capture special memories with your family, and what better way to celebrate the season than with a Hawaiian-inspired holiday mini session? This year, we brought the warmth of the islands to the coast of Orange County, California, with a fun and festive twist on classic Christmas traditions.

Located in the beautiful Dana Point, CA, Doheny State Beach served as the stunning backdrop for this year's holiday mini sessions. While the weather was on the colder side with a strong wind, the sky was picture-perfect—filled with big, fluffy clouds, making for dramatic, gorgeous photos that perfectly complemented the tropical theme. The location combined the beauty of the beach with a laid-back, beachy holiday vibe.

Santa in a Hawaiian Shirt: The Ultimate Holiday Twist

This year, we did something a little different—Santa ditched his traditional red suit for a Hawaiian shirt and shorts, making for a fun, festive, and unique holiday look. He was ready to spread some Christmas cheer with a Mele Kalikimaka spirit that was truly one-of-a-kind. Santa’s tropical attire added a lighthearted and joyful touch to the session that kids couldn’t get enough of!

The VW Bus: A Beachy Holiday Dream

No holiday session is complete without the perfect set-up, and our custom-decorated red and white VW Bus provided the ideal backdrop. This iconic vintage vehicle was decked out in all things tropical—complete with a custom-painted surfboard that read “Mele Kalikimaka” and Christmas stockings adorned with Hawaiian-inspired patterns. To add even more island flair, we wrapped presents in bright Hawaiian print wrapping paper, adding a touch of festive color to each photo.

To top it all off, the luggage rack on the VW Bus was decorated with a monstera fern leaf garland, bringing the tropical theme full circle. The combination of the classic VW Bus, Hawaiian decorations, and the stunning beach backdrop created a truly magical setting for these holiday photos.
